**Controls and gameplay details below**

puca.exe is a solo project by myself, it is a revival of a very old game concept I had for a game in which the player would take care of a virtual pet and the stats in the raising process would determine the pets' combat and exploration abilities. I couldn't fully realize this idea given the time constraint, but I think I managed to create something fun with the skeleton (ha-ha) of what I had left from that project.

This is pretty much the barebones end-to-end I had in mind, some features I had to cut due to time constraints was multiple spell types, shops where you can buy equipment and permanent upgrades that carried through different runs. Perhaps after the voting deadline is up I can get back to it :)

Should take roughly 10 minutes to beat. The game procedurally generates 12 rooms before the boss spawns.

Would appreciate feedback particularly on balance and the difficulty curve, and general game-feel!

Movement Controls:

  • WASD for movement
  • Space to dash
  • Tab for opening and closing menu

Menu Controls:

  • 1 to select first options (Fight/Use)
  • 2 to select second option (Spell)
  • Space to toggle between targets when in battle

Gameplay:

  • When an enemy takes their turn in combat, it is a  bullet-hell style game similar to something like Undertale.
  • On your turn, it takes the form of a more traditional JRPG.
  • Fight - deals damage equal to the players' strength stat.
  • Spell - deals damage equal to the players' mind stat. If the player has more than 10g, this will be consumed to shock (  slows their speed, and delays their next attack significantly ).
  • Agility - determines the number of times the above actions may be taken in one turn.

Secondary stat effects:

  • Strength - determines the chance of block when damaged.
  • Mind - determines time until next turn
  • Agility - determines movement speed.
  • Bond - ???
